OUR STORY
The original Soak Room started within a wellbeing studio called SOAK. As the two evolved, a need arose to give each concept its own mission and identity:
-
Soak Room became the consultancy and design fulfilment process bringing Soak Rooms to others
-
SOAK continues to use the original Soak Room to support young women into health promotion work
Founder's Journey
Up to 2016 / York & London
After a degree in IT followed by a PGCE in teaching IT at a secondary school, formed a social enterprise called "The Photo School", teaching, mentoring and coaching others in photography and through photovoice.
Own journey to better health through mindfulness training, therapy and coaching. Certified as a transformative coach and Clean Language practitioner.
2016 - 2023 / New Zealand & Australia
Emigrated to New Zealand and completed a Masters level degree in Health Promotion whilst also working in a float centre. Saw first hand the benefits of traditional float therapy on my own and others' health.
Inspired by Float Well's 'float & massage' package, went on to train as a bodywork practitioner certifying in Hawaiian massage.
2024 - 2026 / South Coast, UK
Ran an AirBnB retreat from my coastal home, supporting health through massage, menstrual cycle coaching and contrast therapy (sauna/sea dips).
Wanting to add float therapy into my professional practice, I started searching for a premises which led me to Bath.
2026 onwards / Bath, UK
Developed SOAK, a multi-disciplinary wellbeing studio in the heart of Bath. Listening to the constraints of the chosen building, dry float therapy was favoured over the traditional float tank with much success.
Developing the Soak Room highlighted the following values that have guided me throughout and continue to shape decisions.
